A unique course designed to develop a wide range of flexible restorative approaches to use in educational/youth settings, including residential care.
The whole course is set within the context of a restorative philosophy, which identifies relationship development, maintenance and repair as the crucial elements in a thriving community in which people feel safe and are able to live and work at their
best.
The course is delivered in a lively, interactive manner, using the practice and principles of Circle Time, with plenty of opportunity for participation and practice. Acknowledgement is given to participants’ existing skills and sharing best practice is a key element of the course. Creating an atmosphere of trust and safety is a priority in the first few days so that people can push themselves and take risks to try out new approaches.
We recommend that you allow 6 days for thorough skills development by every member of the course, spread over two weeks to allow for some practice time between sessions. (We can manage it all in 5 days if people are available 9am – 5pm) Shorter courses are available if this is not the main objective of the training, if only a minority of the group need to be able to run a full conference or if the group is quite small and prepared to work longer days. The course is sequential, so participants need to attend each day, and play a full part in skills practice, in order to feel confident to move on to the next step.
